System integration is rather referred to in engineering as the process of bringing together various component sub-systems into one system (an aggregation of the subsystems cooperating so that the system is, in fact, able to deliver the overarching functionality) and also ensures that the subsystems function together in the form of a system. In information technology this so as the process of linking together different computing systems as well as software applications physically or functionally, to act as a coordinated whole.
